TRONADOR HILL

It is located in the southern part of the Andes, on the border between Argentina and Chile. It separates two national parks: the Nahuel Huapi, in the provinces of Río Negro and Neuquén, Argentina; And Vicente Perez Rosales in the province of Llanquihue, Chile.
The name of the hill is due to the noise that is produced by the frequent glaciers in the glaciers, similar to thunder. Its height is 3554 meters above sea level and stands out among the mountainous massifs of the national park Nahuel Huapi. The Tronador has a total of seven glaciers which are currently in remission due to global warming. The Cerro Tronador is the highest in the surroundings of Bariloche. After leaving the city center, the mythical National Route 40 takes you to the south, crossing the shores of Gutiérrez and Mascardi Lakes until joining with Provincial Route 82.On the way you will find viewpoints to enjoy the imposing views offered by the Bonete and Cresta de Gallo hills, or you can approach some of the dark sandy beaches of Lake Mascardi. Passing Villa Mascardi you turn right and you can walk a path surrounded by native forests. It is an area of exceptional beauty, visited every year by mountain lovers, climbing and fishing, as are the best areas such as Lake Los Moscos and the Manso River, which leads to Lake Hess. When you reach the river Manso (a river that rises on the top of the Tronador and that changes color throughout its route), you can stop at the bridge Los Rápidos to watch trout swimming in haste in the crystal clear water. If luck goes with it, it is also possible to see some kingfisher. The route continues through a winding road, ascending until reaching the point of maximum height of the whole route. From there you can see the valley of the upper Manso River in almost all its extension, with its meandering course and water green color. Continuing to Pampa Linda, you will find a beautiful place where accommodation and gastronomy services are found. From here you start your way to the base of the hill, where there is a warm confectionery and from there you can see other glaciers of the Tronador. The ascent continues until arriving at the last viewpoint of the route, the Black Ventisquero, a glacier that descends from the Tronador and that stands out for its dark color. On the way back you can take the detour of the road that reaches the waterfall Los Alerces to contemplate this waterfall of 30 meters in height.
