Within a framework of incomparable beauty, 75 km from Campo Quijano, in Quebrada de las Cuevas, this village is located almost at the mouth of the Quebrada del Toro at an altitude of 3,200 m.s.n.m.The place counts with school, sanitary post, mail, a police station and a church.A few meters away, on top of a mountain, which supposed a greater dominion of the area, is an ancient pre-Hispanic city of 12 hectares that astonishes the traveler and constitutes without a doubt one of the most important monuments of Argentine archeology, dates of the XIV and XV centuries crossed by the Inca Trail that connects La Puna with the Calchaquíes Valleys, presenting 1,160 archeological sites at a low level. The whole is crossed by raised streets that lead to spaces where communal and public activities took place, such as grain grinding sites, fire yards and squares. It is estimated that at its peak, at the end of the fifteenth century, the population of Tastil surpassed two thousand inhabitants.
